Opportunities
Our activities are generally divided into three categories: educational, service and proposals for change.
Educational
One of our goals is to facilitate environmental awareness among Texas State Students through many avenues such as tabling in the quad. We often go on field trips that increase member knowledge as well. Finally we bring in guest speakers from various environmentally-focused fields to help those of our members who plan on being environmental professionals. |
Service
Our service opportunities provide a large range fun and hands on ways to get into the local community and make a difference. Some examples include: Adopt-a-Spot Trail building in San Marcos Natural Areas and Beyond Organic Gardening Bobcat Build, Wild Rice Festival, Earth Day, Texas Recycles Day |
Proposals for change
ECO was formally known as the National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP). NAEP was the group that was the key proponent of installing the environmental service fee ($1 per semester out of tuition toward environmental projects) in 2003. ECO strives to carry on this legacy by coordinating with the ESC through our organization, and providing the resources for our members to make proposals of their own or with the group. |
We also try to have a wide range of social events from hikes to potlucks, as well as at least one camping trip a year. :)
